What is a "works council"?
The works council is the employee representative committee and is elected in a secret ballot by the employees. Depending on the size of the institute the MBIs works council consists of seven members. The chairman and the deputy chairman are elected from amidst its members. The elected members work voluntarily and meet on a regular basis. Minutes of every meeting are to be written and archived.
A regular works council member is filled in by a deputy member if he/she is not able to attend a meeting – due to illness, vacation or a training course. Because of that it is ensured that the works council can have a quorum.
The period of office is four years. The current period of office started in April 2018 and will end in April 2022.
The representative for youth and trainees is also elected and takes care of all matters concerning young people and trainees. The representative has seat and vote in the works council regarding all youth-related issues.
